Anna Utter

“I began to see how giving a voice to my struggles and being honest opened up the door for recovery. I learned to celebrate my victories and navigate challenges with the support of people who were on a similar journey. I learned to treat that journey — with all its ups and downs — with grace and compassion. Here, I learned that healing happens together, in the raw and messy places of our hearts and our stories.”

—  Brianna Bulman

“Your world has fallen apart before. Time and time again and the rest of the world has still kept going despite the fact that you are broken. And after thinking you will never recover, never get up off the floor again, you have dusted yourself off and carried on. If you have survived your world shattering, over and over again, and you are still here, a bit damaged, a bit broken but still here — you should be proud of yourself. Because that is no small thing.”

— Nikita Gill

Making the decision to seek help can be one of the most difficult and rewarding steps you may take in your healing journey. The sadness, anger, disappointment, frustrations, stress or confusion you may be feeling does not have to be your life’s story. At times, the weight of our experiences, environment and upbringing may keep us from staying in the present moment, leaving us searching for connection, purpose and comfort. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, self-esteem or personal issues, you deserve all that life has to offer and you do not have to feel alone.

I believe each person carries their own unique story, deserving a therapeutic approach tailored to you.  I believe effective therapy stems from a strong therapeutic relationship, empathy, validation and collaboration. With the utmost non-judgmental and safe environment, we will build a plan for success, helping you reach the goals you have for yourself and your life.

Areas of Specialty: I have extensive experience working with individuals and their supporters who have undergone some sort of trauma. If you are in your adolescence, young adult or adult years, I specialize in moments that have made a significant impact on your life.

  • Sexual and Physical Abuse: Healing from trauma is a brave and transformative experience. Trauma can be described as the monster hiding in your closet. Together, we will open this door and walk through taking back the control.
  • EMDR, TF-CBT, and DBT: As a trauma informed therapist, I believe talk therapy has many benefits, however Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), or Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) offer unique skills and modalities that may be used in session.
  • Anxiety and Depression: Maybe you understand where your anxiety and depression stems from or are unsure, together we will explore your emotional roots helping you regain control and a sense of well-being.
  • Relationship Difficulties: We have a multitude of different relationships in our lives with our parents, caregivers, children, employers and coworkers, peers, teachers or the relationship we have with ourselves. Maintaining healthy relationships is extremely important to living the life you envision. We will work together to enhance your communication skills, boundary setting and create meaningful connections.

Regardless of where your path has led you – or has yet to lead you – as your therapist I will meet you where you are and empower you to find your inner strength. I look forward to working with you on your healing journey.
