Life can be beautiful; but when we are suffering from depression, anxiety or other symptoms we can lose sight of what really matters to us. Feeling like yourself again, and pursuing happiness is a process we can all learn to achieve with time and practice. Let’s work toward feeling better together!

Having worked for Kent County for years, I have worked with people from all walks of life and all ages and I am glad for the diversity of experiences, as they have helped me become the therapist I am today. As a therapist, I believe that we all have strengths and it is my job to help you move to a place where you feel better and empowered as a person. I am a non judgemental therapist and I believe in accepting ourselves as we are can help move us toward the change or relief we are seeking.

Before working at Health for Life Counseling as a therapist, my experience involves over 7 years helping diverse populations in crisis and trauma throughout Kent county using trauma-informed care in hospital ERs and engaging in clinical social work. I have also worked as a case manager and therapist serving Kent county utilizing Dialectical Behavioral therapy techniques for individuals living with chronic mental illnesses. My internship for graduate school also gave me a great learning experience working at the Kent county jail running a substance use group at the Sober Living unit through Arbor Circle helping individuals with co-occurring disorders.

I have over 14 years of experience practicing and teaching Jiu Jitsu, which is an international sport. This has helped me learn discipline and respect for all people. Through the sport, I have met people from all over the world and it has helped my practice as a therapist. As a teacher, I work to hold myself to a higher standard as I know that my actions will have an effect on my community. I have experience teaching both Men and Women to help them with self-defense, self-esteem, and working on becoming the best version of themselves. Speaking English and Spanish, and coming from multi-cultural background of parents both from the United States and Mexico has helped inform my ability to meet all people where they are at.
