In 2014, She moved to Eugene, Oregon to attend University of Oregon’s progressive Prevention Science program. It is a one-year Master’s of Education program focused on the extensive research on the factors that make health and wellness interventions and programs effective and how to implement them in communities to build resiliency and long-term, lasting change. While in this program she began working as a recovery coach at Monte Nido’s Eating Disorder Center of Eugene. Inspired by the skillful therapists she met there, she joined the Couple and Family Therapy program at University of Oregon. Her clinical internships were completed at an integrated health clinic, Volunteers in Medicine, and a clinic which provides child and family therapy within Eugene Pediatrics, Thrive Behavioral Health. She took on several other clinical roles throughout the course of the of the program as well, including a somatic-based play therapy apprenticeship, a facilitator for a survivors of suicide support group, and a parent educator for a Parent-Child Interaction Therapy group.
After graduating from her second Master’s program, she returned home to West Michigan to be close to family. She has gained clinical work experience with families navigating the foster care system, both in home and in residential settings. She also worked for a crisis hotline, which provided experience in both crisis intervention skills and working with individuals in a virtual setting.
Her main area of specialty is relational therapy with couples and families. Her other areas of specialty, in which she has experience working with both individuals and relationships, are trauma, addictions, eating disorders and body image, anxiety, depression, attachment, and communication issues. In all of her therapy she practices from a somatic, trauma-informed mindset, taking into consideration how the brain and body are physically impacted by mental health, trauma, and stress.
She currently accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, ASR, Straight Medicaid, Blue Cross Complete, Meridian, McLaren, and out of network benefits.
