The past and current reality w/ Morgan Vanderpool LICSW

[Episode 55 of The Intentional Clinician]

In this episode, Paul Krauss MA LPC welcomes Morgan Vanderpool LICSW as they draw from their vast experience to talk about trauma-informed awareness in the collective space and within the personal body. Morgan works to reverse systems of violence in our society and help individuals recover from years of oppression.

Morgan discusses how what our society may view as “bad” behavior is simply the natural result of living in a broken system. Our bodies were not designed to succumb to much of the oppression we see today. In fact, as Morgan explains, damage to our nervous systems reflects the chronic stress that we endure. While some people are more burdened by our current environment than others, Morgan advocates for all people engaging in the process of decolonizing and equalizing our society. Morgan offers tips for those who have been affected by systems of oppression and those who realize that they may be unintentionally participating in oppressor roles.

Morgan also encourages our culture to talk about survivorship. This is a new way of thinking for many in our Western world, but it is necessary to change the negative impacts of violent systems. Morgan shares some of her own story related to survivorship and encourages listeners to participate in a similar healing journey. Morgan also offers training on these topics on their website.
