Travel stress can affect anyone, at any moment, regardless of how many passport stamps they have. That doesn’t mean tour operators couldn’t have a role in reducing stress for their groups so they can enjoy their trip to the fullest.

We spoke with Paul Krauss, MA LPC, Clinical Director of Health for Life Counseling (, a private practice psychotherapist, and host of the Intentional Clinician podcast, to discover more.

To begin, it is necessary to understand what causes travel stress in order to work toward reducing it. Travel stress, according to Krauss, is not usually related to the destination or the voyage itself, but rather to the underlying anxiety and uncertainty that might accompany travel.
