Golden Rule Health Insurance for Counseling

Good news! Most of the therapists at Health for Life Counseling Grand Rapids and the Trauma-Informed Counseling Center of Grand Rapids are in-network with Golden Rule Insurance. Note: We take ANY United Healthcare Insurance plan from any of the 50 states including Michigan. We also take special United Healthcare Insurance plans including Optum Insurance, UMR Insurance, Golden Rule, and United Healthcare Medicaid Insurance. No matter what State (Illinois, California, Florida, even Maine!) United Healthcare Insurance is through—we accept it and we are in-network!

Using Golden Rule Insurance with our Grand Rapids counselors is easy. Simply bring in your Golden Rule Insurance card and complete the “new client” insurance form with your therapist. Once you do that, your counselor will make sure to use our secure service to submit your sessions to Golden Rule Insurance.

Depending on your insurance plan, you may owe a copay, co-insurance, or a deductible fee at the time of your counseling session—this will be collected by your therapist at the end of session. You may use your HSA card at this time if you have one. Other times, Golden Rule Insurance may pay for your counseling session completely depending on your insurance plan and you may owe nothing for the service. To understand more about your insurance plan, please contact Golden Rule Insurance and ask them what they cover in terms of “Outpatient Counseling.”

Please note that Golden Rule Insurance is actually a separate healthcare plan that is affiliated with UMR, OPTUM, or United Healthcare Insurance but is not the same as Golden Rule Insurance. Be sure to call your Golden Rule Insurance representative to ask questions about using your insurance for counseling. If your Golden Rule Insurance representative has questions, please have them reference your therapist’s name, and let them know that the official group name is “Intentional Counseling Grand Rapids LLC.”

We look forward to serving you by providing excellent therapy services at this time, while accommodating your insurance plan.
